Database Browser and Database Cursor

Database browser. The database browser displays the data onscreen in a clearly laid out, tabular form. The visible range only ever represents a small portion of the total data (see Fig.). You can shift the database browser, and hence the range that you see onscreen, by using commands or with the aid of the navigator (upper left of the screen, below the toolbar), the mouse or the arrow keys. The currently active data entry is shown highlighted.

Data fields and data entries. The browser appears as a grid in which data fields are separated by vertical lines and data entries by horizontal lines. The data entries contain the plant information, while the data fields contain the criteria with which the plants can be searched for. When you start Plantus for the first time, only the botanical and common plant names will be displayed. Later, you can modify the browser row.

Calculated data fields. It is possible to distinguish between data fields which represent a criterion and those which are calculated while the program is running. These fields display certain data in a summarized form; their content is not displayed in the criterion tree, nor can it be selected there. It is possible to make data changes and inputs. An example is the criterion 'Plant name'. In order to save screen space, the criteria 'Genus', 'Species', 'Addition (infraspecific taxon)' and 'Cultivar' have been combined in this calculated data field.
