Starting Plantus and Managing Lists

These instructions have been written for use with normal Windows software. Plantus starts in full-screen mode, i.e., the main application window fills the entire screen. Plantus is a Multi-document Interface (MDI) program, like Word for Windows. This means that several documents (pick lists, filter lists, global list and text window) can all be managed in one main window. You can exchange data between these documents by choosing the standard Windows commands from the Edit menu ('Copy', 'Pick' and 'Paste'). It is also possible to copy plants from the global list and filter lists to pick lists by using 'drag-and-drop'. All Plantus commands can be started from the menu bar at the top of the main application window.

Depending on the window type, the menu bar adapts itself accordingly, displaying the commands that are specific to that window. If the document window contains command buttons, such as [Search], you can also use these to execute the commands. Note that, for nearly every command, a brief description appears in the status bar at the bottom of the main application window when you move over the command with the mouse cursor. If you leave the cursor over a command button momentarily, a brief descriptive text (tooltip) will appear below the button in a yellow text field.

As already explained in the section "List Types", there are three types of list: the global list, filter lists (search lists) and pick lists (order lists). The global list is always displayed upon each program start and cannot be closed by the user. The other two list types must be created or opened by choosing the appropriate command from the File menu or by clicking on the corresponding icons in the toolbar:
